The Defensive portfolio (D7) provides a higher level of defence while still growing your capital over the medium to long term. As expected, if the risk factor is lower, then the overall reward will be slightly lower too, but it is still designed to beat the FTSE All-Share over a 5-year period. This style of investing is for investors who may soon be retiring or simply want a lower and smoother returns on their capital. Income is mainly sought to cover the fees of running the account however, any excess will be reinvested. It is not intended to be an absolute return proposition and it can go down as well as up in value.
